William Batts is Licensed Master Social Worker and a native and current resident of Baltimore, MD. After seeing the ravages of mental health on his family and the larger community, it became clear to him that mental health was an arena that could use his gifts, skills, and talents. After working as a para-professional for years, William returned to school to complete his Bachelor’s in Social Work at Bowie State University. He then transitioned to the University of Maryland – Baltimore where he earned a Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and a dual specialization in Clinical Social Work and Management & Community Organizations.
William has experienced success in both the public and private sectors. He prides himself on being able to connect with others and effectively communicate in both leadership and direct service roles. Additionally, being able to understand the ‘pulse of the people’ and effectively engage with them, is something William holds in high esteem. He believes across all cultures and races people are contending with challenging situations and circumstances in one form or another. He uses his skills and talents as a mental health professional in two programs in the Baltimore area. William remains committed to the causeof promoting mental health andhelping to normalize the conversation around this topic by offering hope, speaking life, and using his gifts and talents for the greater good!
